Protection of critical infrastructures

Intelligent monitoring of critical supply infrastructures such as electricity, gas, heat, and water networks is of immense importance for the functioning of the community and civil security. Even minor cracks in radio masts, power plant cooling towers, tunnel systems, or bridges can have serious consequences. Protecting these infrastructures, also in the context of sustainability and efficiency, requires reliable monitoring technologies to avoid endangering human life or supply bottlenecks.

There is a great need for intelligent systems. These must have adapted sensors, actuators, semiconductor technology, power electronics, and embedded software to enable real-time decisions for operation and maintenance, among other things.
